Love Letter

                                                                      Sandy Dickson

Beloved, there are some things I want you to know

Concerning my sincere commitment to serve you,

And how willing I am to see that this happens,

Even if you may think now I don’t deserve you.

I vow my devotion to anything you need

Will carry us through in the grandest of fashion

As I joyfully uphold all my promises

In exchange for your trust of my fervent passion.

Do you want the moon? Okay I’ll get it for you

And all else you might want, but might consider remote.

I’m a politician; I’ll get you all you want.

I can promise you this in exchange for your vote.

This is a presidential election year and it’s only January of 2008.

Isn’t it almost an unbearable thought that we have to put up with

this rhetoric all the way until November?
